Over twenty years ago, she had a vision and a passion and--with the support of her husband Eric--she opened the happiest shop in Winter Park, FL. It was a specialty garden shop in the cutest little house you ever did see. Lisa's signature was evident in every detail. And, I got to come along for the ride for a while. Lisa and Eric offered me a job while I was trying to start up a business of my own.
Customers came in for the exotic plants and the high quality orchids; they flocked to Winter Park for garden tools and fountains and tabletop accessories you wouldn't find anywhere else. And, they came for the horticultural knowledge. But here is the real secret: customers came in to be with Lisa. Because, like me, they simply loved being in her sweet presence. This savvy businesswoman has the biggest ears and heart around and we all wanted some of her.
Apenberry's Gardens has a new location and a big staff and lots of tales of both ups and downs to share from the past 21 years, and it all began with Lisa's vision and Eric's support. I was living on the edge financially when I worked for Apenberry's, and those were some of the happiest days of my life simply because I got to be in Lisa's presence daily. You may not get to meet Lisa, but you can follow her on Instagram at @apenberrysgardens and visit their website at www.apenberrys.com or stop by their Orlando store.
And, if there is a Lisa in your life, treasure her and encourage her. Because, she is a gift. And, I realize now that we surely wore Lisa out at times with all of that wanting her.
Thank you, Lisa, for being YOU. I learned and laughed so much! You are a gift to me, and I haven't told you that enough.
